symbolism-an object, action, or idea that is represented by an image

 space-  the area provided for a painting,drawing, or sculpture. Space includes the background, foreground and middle ground. There are two kinds of space: negative and positive.

 balance- an arrangement of art elements that appear equal. No one part overpowers the rest.

 movement– elements of art that makes work appear active.

 Unity- a look and feel of completeness in a work of art.

Abstract and Color Grade 6

abstract-art that uses line color shape and texture. It does not focus on people animals or objects.

primary-red, yellow,blue

secondary- orange, violet, green

tertiary-red-violet, blue-violet,red-orange, yellow-orange,blue-green, yellow-green

shape- when 2D lines connect or cross .
examples:organic, geometric

composition-how shapes, lines, and forms are put together to make art.

medium- the material that an artist uses to make art

Mandala Vocab

Mandala- translates to mean “circle and center”. Represents wholeness and commonly uses symbolism. 

Symmetry-occurs when one side of something mirrors the other creating balance. 

Symbolism-to use symbols to express or represent ideas, thoughts, or beliefs.
